Sharon Kay Fannin

Sharon Kay Fannin, 82, Andrews, passed away at 4:01 am on Monday, October 26, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Marion. She was born in Huntington on Monday, April 4, 1938, to Howard and Lela (Gard) Gilbert.

Sharon graduated from Monument City High School. She loved cooking and serving people and, therefore, went into the restaurant business. She had worked as a bartender at Bob’s Bar in Mt. Etna and the Moose Lodge in Marion before managing Knobby Restaurant in Marion. She also opened her own restaurant, Sharon’s Restaurant, in 1990 and operated it until her retirement.

Survivors include her children, Kaptolla “Kappy” (William) Johnson of Kenton, OH, Fenna (Linnie) Saylors of LaFontaine, William “Billy” (Vickie) Fannin of Marion, and Penny (John) Sterrett of Anderson; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lora Gamble of Huntington and Iris White of FL.

In addition to her husband, William Fannin, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eunice Pulley, Vickie Rose, and Genene Hotzpelzar; brother, Kevin Gilbert; and long-time companion, Kenny McCleese.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

A funeral service to celebrate Sharon’s life will begin at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 30, 2020, at the funeral home. Pastor David Parker will be officiating with burial taking place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
