Patricia Ann Lawson

Patricia Ann Lawson, 96, of Plainfield, passed away at 5:01 am on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Life’s Journey Hospice in Avon. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, August 19, 1926, to Ernest W. and Jessie L. (Plyley) Powers.  She was married to Robert Lawson, who preceded her in death on April 24, 2000.  

Patricia graduated from Marion High School and received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Ball State University.  She was an elementary teacher for 30 years with Marion Community Schools, retiring in 1981. Patricia was a member, as well as an elder and deacon, at First Presbyterian Church of Grant County, life member of National Education Association, member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Grant County Retired Teachers Association, and YWCA, President of both the American Association of University Women and Grant County Historical Society, and Past Matron of Mississinewa Chapter #94 Order of Eastern Star.

Prior to living at Life’s Journey, Patricia lived at The Oaks of Plainfield. She enjoyed spending time with her family. The family would like to thank the many hospice nurses who took such good care of Patricia over the years.

Survivors include her son, Gregory E. (Mary Jane) Lawson of South Bend; daughter, Lynn (Samuel) Levite of Plainfield; and three grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Susan Greenlee.

To celebrate Patricia’s life, the family will have a memorial gathering at Gardens of Memory at a date and time to be determined later.
