Ninety-one and Counting

For those of you with a copy of the Think About It collection, you may want to turn to the last page for its then prescient prediction of then things to come.  If that is not one of your prized possessions, simply type or tap https://www.yournewslocal.com/who-me/ .  All of which brings us to today, July 28, 2022.

I’d love to say all is well, but there are those of you know the truth that I am occasionally grumpier than usual. However, my rapier-like responses are no longer as deftly pointed. The promise of wisdom with age seems somehow sadly empty.  And yes, you may know, like many my age, I have nearly every malady known to man (or woman). You may remember some years ago I was admonished by a quirky physician that if I just wouldn’t live so long, I wouldn’t have all these issues. Then he chased me down the hall with a large book, promising to empty the sebaceous cyst on my left thumb. I hope IU Health has given him a generous retirement.

On the other hand, (No not “she had warts”, as my mother used to say.) just in case you didn’t know, I still walk more or less upright.  Often I can complete a cogent sentence without asking Mary to fill in a word missing somehow even if I look up and left for help. I have had to promise myself that at Bridge I will be less belligerent when opponents unintentionally cheat.

Since I was tested by Covid this past week, a gathering with my once-children was inappropriate, so the gifts, some sweet, some sweetly financial came by courier and internet.

When asked what would please me for birthday dinner, I politely requested Beef Wellington, which is now on its long journey to perfection. What a way to live. Mary has however taken a little time off to rest. It’s quite a task. Too much to ask?

When grexing that I miss the days when I was “Walter Weaver”, I was reminded that that was a long time ago. Oh, yes, I remember it was July 28, 1975.  https://www.yournewslocal.com/july-28-1975/

As for now, I am happy to say I am still among the most fortunate of humans in this big wide wonderful world.  Thank you all for helping me to Ninety-one and Counting.
