Betty Lou Castanon

Betty Lou Castanon, 81, of Converse, passed away at 4:15 am on Monday, July 25, 2022, in her home. She was born in Vicco, Kentucky, on July 5, 1941, to John and Birtie (Sloan) Farler. On May 10, 1958, she married Antonio I. Castanon, and he preceded her in death on October 21, 2005.  

Betty worked as a seamstress at Butterworth Industry before being a dedicated homemaker for her family. She was very strong in her faith as a long-time member of Converse United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Ladies Club. Betty enjoyed cooking and baking, particularly Mexican and Southern food. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty will be remembered as a loving, giving, and faithful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.  

Survivors include her sons, Juan (Pat) Castanon of Marion and Victor “Bo” (Sherrie) Castanon of Marion; daughters, Rosa (Terry) Davis of Gas City and Tonya (Jeff Chambers) Kroft of Converse; grandsons, Tyler (Christina) Davis of Palm Desert, CA, Eric (Rachel) Davis of Greenfield, Kyle (Kasey Ellis) Davis of Gas City, Garrett (Alyssa) Castanon of Noblesville, Andrew Castanon of Marion, and Trey Castanon of Marion; granddaughters, Arielle (Mat) Galligan of LaFontaine, Aja (Michele) Michael-Keller of Fort Wayne, and Dinah (Adam) Gibson of Yorktown; great-grandchildren, Juliet Gibson, Danial Gibson, Penelope Davis, Josephine Davis, Thaddeus Davis, Sawyer Michael-Keller, Jude Michael-Keller, Huntleigh Galligan, Miranda (Jake Banks) Ellis, Johnathan Tucker, and Veronica Tucker; great-great-grandsons, Carter Banks and Maison Banks; several nieces, nephews, and close family friends; and special caregivers, Carrington and Madeline. 

In addition to her parents and loving husband, Betty was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Victoria Castanon; brothers, Odene Farler and Eugene Farler; and sisters, Juanita Buckner, Colleen Marcum, Cloteen Davidson, Linda Davidson, and Barbara McClease. 

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. 

A funeral service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the funeral home. Rev. Robert Preusz will be officiating with burial following at Converse Cemetery. Additional visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10:30 am until the time of the service.
