Ninabelle (Parsons, Lighty) Purdy passed from her earthly home surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 6:25 a.m.
She was born on Aug. 17, 1931, the youngest of ten children born to Harold Darnington Parsons and Elizabeth Haney Crum Parsons in Hitchins, Kentucky. On June 2, 1951, she married Delbert Wayne Lighty, her devoted husband for 48 years until his passing on May 30, 1999. He was then blessed to marry Elwin Dwight Purdy, on Sept. 29, 2001, who brought her such joy and happiness for the remainder of her life.
Nina was vivacious and lived a life full of good friends, love, and lots of laughter. She was devoted to her beloved Elwin and church community. She would always say that the Wesleyan Village was her “heaven on earth.” She will be deeply missed by many people, but there is comfort in knowing she has returned to the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, along with those that have passed on before her.
She is survived by her children and children by marriage: Alicia, Kelda, Dennie, Donnie (Jacque), Myra (Terry), Dennis (Margaret), Dwight (Patricia), Douglas (Jean), and Dawn (Larry). She was blessed with beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Arrangements for Ninabelle have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A memorial service celebrating Ninabelle’s life will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 10:00 A.M at the Fairmount Wesleyan Church, 304 N. Walnut St. Fairmount, IN 46928 with Pastor Jim Neal officiating.
