Nancy Jean Frantz, 91, of North Manchester, Indiana, died 6:20 pm, Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center in North Manchester. She was born on January 22, 1932, in Wadsworth, Ohio, to Charles Paul and Bernice Ion (Koontz) Bender.
Nancy was a 1949 graduate of Wabash High School and attended Manchester College two years. She married Richard Gene Frantz at the Wabash First United Methodist Church, on June 9, 1951. He died June 13, 2017. Nancy was a homemaker, a real estate broker for 7 years, worked at Wetzel Insurance several years, and also worked for Attorney Bill Daggett. She was a longtime member of the Tri Kappa Sorority and was a Girl Scout Brownie Leader. Nancy enjoyed reading and spending time with her husband Richard and her family.
She is survived by three daughters, Paula Ion (Greg) Garner of Wabash, Susan Marie Spackman of Asheville, North Carolina, and Leslie Kay Frantz of Wabash. Four grandchildren, Erica (Ethan) Bigham of Houston, Texas, Nicholas Garner of Wabash, Alexandra (George) Gunnoe of San Diego, California, and Carolyn di Buono of Denver, Colorado, two great-grandchildren, Atwood Garner Bigham and Beck Lee Bigham, both of Houston, and her brother, Charles Paul Bender II of North Manchester. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023 in the Chapel at Timbercrest Senior Living Community, 2201 East St. North Manchester. Private graveside services will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery, at a later date.
