Milton Richard “Dick” Ash, 87, of Peru passed away at 2:11 PM, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Peru, IN on September 29, 1930 the son of Homer Andrew and Mausalene Bishop Ash. Dick married Mary Lowe in Peru on August 3, 1968 and she survives. Dick graduated from Twelve Mile High School where he was an outstanding Track Star and Purdue University with a Degree in Animal Science. He served four years in the US Navy on the Destroyer USS Blue during the Korean Conflict. His military declarations include The National Defense Service Medal, The Korean Service Medal, The China Service Medal, The Navy Occupation Service Medal and The United Nations Service Medal. A great man of great faith and integrity, Dick was an active member of the St. John’ Lutheran Church where he served as a Lay Minister and member of the Choir. He was a member of the Miami County Selective Service System during the Viet Nam War. For several years Dick was a member of the Kokomo Symphony Chorus. Dick was a Miami County farmer all of his life and a retired C&O Railroad Employee and a Peru Post Office Employee. Dick was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and in addition to enjoying golf and music he thoroughly cherished time spent with his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife Mary, are a daughter Amy Snyder of Bunker Hill, grandchildren Zac and Ava Snyder; sisters Shirley Graham and her husband Don of Indianapolis and Frances Conrad of Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother in law Joseph Conrad. A service celebrating the life of Milton R. Ash will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 181 W. Main Street, Peru, IN with Pastor Kenneth Greenwald officiating. Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 5:00-8:00 PM, Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the St. John’s Lutheran Church.
