Mildred P. Christman Gemmer, age 89, of Huntington, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018, at 8:35 pm at Harbour Manor, Noblesville. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1946. She worked as a telephone operator for Indiana Bell for 17 years and was co-owner of Gemmer Grocery for 25 years. She was a member of the Christian Church in Boca Raton, FL and Noblesville.
Mildred was born June 8, 1928, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Herbert & Margaret (Chamberlain) Christman. She married Waldo “Pete” Gemmer and he passed away in 2006. She is survived by a daughter Brenda (Robert) Kemna of Noblesville, 1 grandchild, 2 great-grandchildren, a brother Kenneth Christman of Dayton, OH, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Berniece Millette and a brother Norman Christman.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 30 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm preceding the 2:00 pm funeral service at Deal-Rice Funeral Home- Huntington Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s First Community Church Cemetery.
