Mickey “Mick” Orval Wilson, Sr.

Mickey “Mick” Orval Wilson, Sr., 82, Marion, passed away at 3:15 pm on Thursday, December 24, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Marion. He was born in Upland, Indiana, on Tuesday, September 27, 1938, to Orval and Grace (Miller) Wilson. On May 15, 1957, he married Sue Ellen Wiseman, and she survives.

Mick graduated from Sweetser High School in 1956. He was a process engineer with Anaconda-Ericsson and retired in 1999. He was a pastor at Jalapa United Methodist Church. He was a member of Sweetser United Methodist Church, where he was very involved and served as an assistant pastor as well as a Lay Pastor for the Northern Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was also actively involved in the Sweetser High School Alumni, serving as President for several terms.

Mick loved sports all of his life. In his younger years he played baseball and basketball, as well as ran track. Later in life, he mainly watched sports but still played softball and golf. He was an avid follower and supporter of Oak Hill sports, always having a sports pass. Mick loved his family and enjoyed having family picnics in his woods. He also loved his motorcycle and enjoyed reading.

Additional survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth (Bruce) Vipond of Marion and Judith (Alan) DeBoy of Greenwood; sons, Mickey (Cindy) Wilson, Jr., of Wabash and Joseph (Stephanie) Wilson of Muncie; grandsons, Nathan (Kelley) Wilson and Derek (Carrie) DeBoy; granddaughters, Anna-Marie Ohnesorge, Jamie (Mitchel) Hueston, Megan (Sean) Chester, Erin (Joey) Olson, and Lauren (Matt) McGregor; great-granddaughters, Katelyn Flores, Peytan Short, Emma Chester, Audrey DeBoy, Lila Bailey, Etta Jo Olson, Agnes Jean Olson, and Nola James Olson; great-grandsons, Bret Hueston, Jace Hueston, Wade Wilson, Wyatt McGregor, Rhodes McGregor, and Landon Chester; sisters, Teil Buroker and Lee Ann (Chuck) Lawson; brother, Steve (Pam) Wilson; step-granddaughters, Mallory, Megan, and Sarah (Chris); step-grandsons, Matt (Sheryl) and Caleb (Tiffanie); step-great-granddaughters, Anna, Carrie, Hailey, and Allie; and step-great-grandsons, Will, Nate, Luke, and Clayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
