Michelle L. Gallion

Michelle L. Gallion, 49, Marion, was surrounded by her loving family when she went to be with the Lord in her home at 3:48 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019.

A lifelong resident of Grant County and daughter of Jim Mitchell and Judy (Drake) Swafford, Michelle was born in Marion on August 10, 1969.  In 1987, she graduated from Eastbrook High School and continued her post-secondary education at IU-Kokomo, where she received her bachelor’s degree.  On her birthday in 2011, she married her loving husband, Keith Gallion.

Michelle worked for Masterpiece Gardens at Meijer in Marion.  She was previously a claims adjuster at Auto Owners in Sweetser.  She loved being outdoors tending to her flowers and landscape at her home, as well as taking walks, kayaking, or simply taking in God’s beautiful creation.  She was a creative woman who also enjoyed writing poems and coloring.  She loved spending time with her dogs, but Michelle especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren.  She was an optimistic, happy, and beautiful woman who will not only be dearly missed by her family but also by her church family at Center Chapel UMC.

She is survived by her husband, Keith Gallion, Marion; sons, Scott Chain and Aaron Hiles, both from Noblesville; daughter, Christina Alexander, Sims; step-children, Kortnee Gallion, Gas City, Damon Gallion, South Bend, and Gage Gallion, Marion; parents, Jim (Julie) Mitchell, Marion, and Judy Swafford, Marion; grandchildren, Alivea, Andrew, Jayceon, Kamrynn, and Milliee; brother, Todd (Melissa) Mitchell; sister, Katie Mitchell; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Her brother, Timothy Mitchell, preceded her in death.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Michelle’s funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Sanders and Pastor Wally Champion officiating.  Burial will follow at Galveston Cemetery.
