Meredith Eugene “Bud” Zody

Meredith Eugene “Bud” Zody, 94, of North Grove, IN passed away at 10:54 P.M., Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his residence. He was born in North Grove on February 28, 1924, the son of Herman “Wiley” Wile and Lula Rose Zimmerman Zody. Bud married Norma Jean Wininger on August 4, 1972 and she precede him in death on August 15, 2016. Bud was a 1942 graduate of Clay Township High School. As a member of American Greatest Generation, Bud served in the US Army during WWII. His military decorations include the Good Conduct Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic – Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star. Bud retired from Square D in 1986 and was also a member of the VFW in Kokomo. Surviving are his children Nancy West and her husband Gary of Kokomo, Stephen Walker and his wife Robin of Pensacola, FL, Terry Henson of Huntington, Susan Triplett and her husband Chuck of Peru, Lisa Flatford and her husband Gary of Cartersville GA and Jeannie Flatford and her husband Scott of Converse, IN; daughters-in-law Peggy Walker of Huntington and Millie Zody of Kokomo; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and special people in his life Bill and Pat Beeler and Jeff and Joyce Tanner. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Norma Jean; sons Junior Zody, Dale Wayne Zody and Gary Wile Zody and Dale Walker; son-in-law Michael Henson and a brother Bert Emerson Zody. Family and friends will gather from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy, IN. A service celebrating the life of Meredith Eugene “Bud” Zody will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home with Rev. John Haines officiating. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to American Cancer Society Howard County Relay for Life Team #29.
