Maxwell R. Jones, 81, Anderson, passed away at 12:15 pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in his home. He was born in Columbia, Kentucky, on Tuesday, April 22, 1941, to Arvin and Lillie (Farris) Jones. On May 30, 1962, he married Barbara Williams, and she preceded him in death.
Maxwell was a USMC veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of Corporal and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service, he worked at RCA in Marion and General Tire in Marion. His last career was as a machine repairman for 32 years with General Motors in Marion, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Greater Second Baptist Church and was active in the UAW Local 944.
Maxwell enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also practiced martial arts for over 20 years and was also a teacher. Maxwell will be remembered as a loving, caring, and protective man who will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Ross of Anderson; son, Michael (Katie) Jones, Sr., of Anderson; grandchildren, Aaron Ross, Michael (Dedra) Jones, II, Diamond Jones, Tiffany Ross, Herschel Ross, III, Rashawn Ross, and Natalie (Bruce) McClendon-Douglas; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Patty Eddington of Kokomo and Deborah Jones-Thomas of CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Jones, Arvin Jones, Jr., Thurman Jones, Wendell Jones, Gary Jones, and Stephen Jones; and sisters, Ina Jones, Wanda Broadnax, and Rita Pearl Cooksie.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave, Marion, IN.
On Thursday, September 29, 2022, a graveside service and burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
