Mary Kathryn “Kate” Freeman

Mary Kathryn “Kate” Freeman, 85, died Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Colonial Oaks Health Care.

Kate was born in Ohio on July 13, 1933, daughter of the late James and Bessie Ruth (Coldiron) Davis. She attended Fairmount High School and married CG Freeman on November 21, 1959 in Marion, Indiana. Kate had was employed at the Fettig Canning Factory in Pt. Isabel, Crystal Laundry in Jonesboro, and Fairmount Laundry. Kate and CG enjoyed traveling with the Fisher Body Camping Club and were king and queen of the the 2003 James Dean Festival. Kate was a loyal Cubs fan.

Kate is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, CG Freeman, daughter, Penney (Jeff Shaffer) Benedict, Jonesboro; son, Marc (Lisa) Freeman, Fairmount; four sisters; Carol (Jimmie) Carter, Marion, Deloris Riggleman, Missouri, Sandy (Ed) Burchett, Swayzee, and Linda Phillippe, Fairmount; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.

Kate was preceded in death by her parents, son Randy Freeman, brother, Gene Davis, and sister, Jewel LaShure.

Services for Kate will be at the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana on Saturday, December 29, 2018. Visitation is from 11 AM -1 PM with funeral service at 1 PM with Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or Fairmount Masonic Lodge in care of the funeral home.
