Mary “Jane” McKenzie, 92, of Peru passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Dukes Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Anderson, Indiana on February 7, 1926 to Rev. Glen C. and Mary O. (Grimes) Hershberger. She married Robert E. McKenzie on April 20, 1947, and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2008.
Jane worked as a surgical nurse at Dukes Memorial Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, a member of the Moose Ladies Auxiliary, and also the Peru Muni Ladies Golf Association. She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp., and was a member of the American Red Cross.
She is survived by her daughter Jyl A. Hight (husband Dale E.) of Peru and her daughter-in-law Chris McKenzie of New Jersey. Also, grandchildren Kate Draper (husband Jason) of Peru, and Daniel Hight (wife Shannah) of Peru. Also, great-grandchildren Brenden Draper, Karlie Draper, Maycie Hight, and Olivia Hight.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Jon McKenzie, three brothers, and one sister.
Visitation for Jane will be held from 12pm to 2pm on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 2pm, with Pastor Lauren Hall officiating. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mexico, Indiana.
