Mary Francis Herring, 83, of Marion, passed away at 11:35 pm on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Rolling Meadows Health & Rehabilitation Center in LaFontaine. She was born in Albany, Kentucky, on February 14, 1938, to Eldrick and Liza (Barber) Smith. She married Perry “Pete” Herring and he survives.
Mary graduated from Albany High School and graduated from Marion Business College. She had worked as a management secretary for 39 years with RCA in Marion until her retirement. Mary liked to go fishing with her husband. She was very active as a member and volunteer at Lighthouse Assembly of God where she worked in the Sunday School. More than anything, Mary cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Perry “Pete” Herring, Sr., Mary is survived by her son, Perry (Kimberly) Herring, Jr. of TX; granddaughter, Makayla (Zach) Herring Morgan; grandson, Blake (Tawny) Maloy; great-granddaughters, Saxon Maloy and Sophie Morgan; sister-in-law, Phyllis Smith; brother-in-law, Jim Lee; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Shelby Smith; and sisters, Margaret “Dean” Lee and Sandy (Danny) Craft.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, IN 46952.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate Mary’s life will begin at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jeremy Snodgrass officiating. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.
