Mary Ellen Smith, 100, of Peru passed away on July 7, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor.
She was born in Miami County on June 29, 1918 to John and Mary (Duncan) McHale. She married George M. Smith on December 24, 1936. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Mary Ellen retired as a proofreader from American Stationary in Peru, as well as from the Miami County Treasurer and Auditor’s offices. She is survived by her son, Roger A. Smith (wife Jane) of Indianapolis, as well as four grandchildren: Gregory, Katherine, Amanda, and David Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Charles McHale, a sister Leona Kurz.
Visitation will be held from 11am – 1pm on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 1pm, with Pastor Jim Rairigh officiating.
