Mary Eleanor King

Mary Eleanor King, 94, Marion, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in her home. She was born in Wabash, Indiana, on September 16, 1927, to Leroy and Cleo (Moore) Slagle. On October 3, 1944, she married Charles Robert King, and he preceded her in death.  

Mary was a homemaker throughout her life and faithfully served her husband and family. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening, flowers, and fishing. She was a member of Woodland Hills Church of Christ. 

Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn (Jim) Thomas, Marilyn Hamilton, Roberta (William) Boan, and Regina (Ronnie) Lett; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Judy King. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Felicia Lett; sister, Annabelle Slagle; and two half-brothers, Howard Slagle and Earl Slagle. 

The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. 

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Mary’s life will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Allen Jones officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
