Mary B. Betts

Mary B. Betts, 92, Marion, received her eternal reward at 11:45 am on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in Judsonia, Arkansas, on Wednesday, February 12, 1930, to James and Susan (Bell) Spence. On August 1, 1946, she married Carl A. Betts.  

Mary attended Judsonia High School in Arkansas.  She worked at Foster-Forbes and later at Sears, where she retired.  She was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Melvin (Rita) Betts of Frankfort; daughters, Carolyn A. (David) Ring of Marion and Marolyn (Steve) Turner of Fowlerton; 6 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Edom; and son-in-law, Kent Martin of Jackson, GA.

She happily joined her loving husband, Carl Betts; her precious daughter, Donna Martin; her caring granddaughter, Melanie Betts; her amazing great-granddaughter, Addyson Brankle; her loving parents; and siblings, JW Spence, Robert Spence, and Evelyn Scarborough.

The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

On Monday, January 30, 2023, a funeral service to celebrate Mary’s life will begin at 10:00 am at North Chapel. Pastor Levi Boudray will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
