Martin L. “Marty” Chapin

Martin L. “Marty” Chapin, age 77, of Huntington, passed away peacefully at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12 p.m. Friday at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Jeff Carrell officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Clear Creek Cemetery in Huntington County.

Preferred memorials are to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or American Diabetes Association, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750.

Marty was born on October 4, 1940 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the oldest son of Lloyd and Viola (Martin) Chapin. Marty’s family spent most of his childhood in Bridgeport, Connecticut before moving to Huntington where he married his first wife, Sally Gentis, and they had three children who survive: Daniel W. (Teresa) Chapin of Fishers and Teresa Jo (Bub) Snyder and Janelle L. (Scott) Gard, both of Huntington. While in Huntington, he worked for Locke Steele Crane Company and Orton Crane Company. In 1980 Marty moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and shared a loving marriage of 11 years with Cleo “Marie” Worthy who preceded him in death in 2007. He retired in 2002 after 23½ years as a crew chief in Public Works for the City of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Also surviving is a brother, Gary (Janet) Chapin of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a niece, and a nephew. His parents and a great granddaughter also precede him in death.
