Martha E. Skinner

Martha E. Skinner, 86, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018, in Marion, Indiana. She was born on January 30, 1932, in Marion, Indiana, to the late George and Ella (Schutlz) Mook. Martha graduated from Marion High School in 1950. She worked for Lindley Box for around 6 years and later she worked for Fisher Body for around 3-4 years doing payroll for both. Martha married John “Jack” Skinner, on April 9, 1955, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Marion, Indiana. Together they were the model parents and made marriage look easy. They were like the same person, they lived simply, respected each other and always gave a couple of options to every decision they had to make and then decided together what would be best for them and their family as a whole.

Martha absolutely loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She loved poetry, some of her favorites being written by Helen Stiner Rice. She truly enjoyed listening to southern gospel, the Gaither’s and hymns. Martha’s wishes were to share her love of poetry with everyone by sharing “Remembered Joy”, by an unknown author. “Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free! I follow the plan God laid for me. I saw His face, I heard His call, I took His hand and left it all… I could not stay another day, to love, to laugh, to work, to play; Tasks left undone must stay that way. And if my parting has left a void, then fill it with Remembered Joy! A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss… Ah yes these things I, too shall miss. My life’s been full, I’ve savored much: good times, good friends, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief- Don’t shorten yours with undue grief. Be not burdened with tears of sorrow. Enjoy the Sunshine of the ‘morrow”.

Martha is survived by her husband, Jack, Marion; son, Kevin Skinner, Marion; daughter, Karen (Dr. Bob) Klaasen, Greenwood; brother, Elbern (Dortha) Mook, Marion; grandsons, Jonathan “Jon” Klaasen, and Joseph “Joey” Klaasen.
