MARION, Ind. – Marion police continue to investigate a Friday morning shooting that critically injured a Marion man.

Vincent Sharp, 22, suffered four gunshot wounds, according to Marion Police Department’s Deputy Chief Stephen Dorsey, at an apartment complex on Butler avenue. Sharp was initially taken to Marion General Hospital before being flown to Fort Wayne were he underwent surgery Friday afternoon, Dorsey said. As of 6:30 p.m., Sharp was listed in critical condition.

Police responded to calls of shots fired at the apartment complex, located at 337 N. Butler Ave., at 11:23 a.m. Friday. Dorsey said police found multiple shell casings in the parking lot upon their arrival. Sharp was reportedly seen running westbound on West Euclid Avenue, a street running adjacent to apartment building, before collapsing and being taken to MGH by ambulance. Dorsey declined to say where Sharp suffered gunshot wounds but said Sharp was conscious in the ambulance and at MGH.

Sharp is a resident of the apartment complex, called Executive Apartments, police say. Investigators were still on scene at the apartment complex late Friday afternoon.

“We have a number of people who were in the complex that we are interviewing,” Dorsey said. “Some witnesses are cooperating and others claim they did not see or hear anything.”

Police don’t believe anyone else was injured in the shooting.

No arrests have been made, and police did not have any official suspects as of Friday afternoon. The case is still under  investigation.
