Margaret Ann Mart, 73, Marion, passed away at 7:45 am on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in Peru, Indiana, on Tuesday, March 22, 1949, to Raymond Dee and Carrie Christine (Pope) Pickering.
Margaret graduated from Marion High School in 1967 and was a glass inspector for 30 years with Ball Foster/Foster-Forbes, retiring in 1999. She was a regular attendee of South Side Diner and 9th Street Café. Margaret enjoyed playing cards with friends and watching television shows, including Two and a Half Men, Mom, Momma’s Family, and Alaskan Bush People. She loved her dog, Shy, and enjoyed being independent. She will be remembered by her family as being funny and sweet. Margaret will be deeply missed by the whole town of Converse and all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughter, Tracy Crites of Marion; granddaughters, Kayla (Jerry) Holcomb and Jessica Brummett; grandson, Edward Jay Brummett; great-granddaughter, Arya Dorsey; four other great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Boaz of Converse; and half-brother, Roger Miller of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dajean Ann Evans; brother, Raymond Pickering, Jr.; and sister, Doris J. Sizemore.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Margaret’s life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
