Helen Carmaleta “Carmen” Armfield

Helen Carmaleta “Carmen” Armfield, 82, went to her eternal rest at 7:50 am on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Wyndmoor of Marion in Marion. She was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, on Tuesday, May 28, 1940, to Albert and Wanda (Carter) Lamb. She married Robert Lee Armfield on June 18, 1982.

Carmen attended Chuckey-Doak High School and afterwards moved to Indiana where she spent the majority of her life as a caregiver for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even after moving to Indiana, she always took the time when she could, to travel home to Tennessee and spend time with her mom and dad, brothers, and sisters who meant the absolute world to her. It doesn’t feel adequate to give tribute to a mother and grandmother when she was just so, so much more than that. The preciousness and purity of a mother and grandmother, sure-anyone who knew her would agree that was true. But to so many of us, she was our loyalist friend, our unwavering supporter, a constant source of truly and undoubtedly unconditional love. She was our constant, our glue. We are who we are, because of her. She literally lived her life for her children and grandchildren. Truly, to know her was to love her.

Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly (Jeff) Altman of Jonesboro, Anita Swanner; sons, Geoff (Jennifer) Davis of Limestone, TN, Michael (Shannon) Walker of Cocoa, FL; granddaughters, Aubrey, Chelsey (Corey), Brianna (Erik), Amy (Wes), Jordan, Taylor, Sydney; grandsons, Dustin, Cody; great-grandsons, Keegan, Jace; great-granddaughters, Makenna, Emalynn, Brooklyn, Kahlyn; sister, Shirley (Billy) Britton of Limestone, TN; brother, Jerry (Joanne) Lamb of Tucson, AZ.

She was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Wanda Lamb; husband, Robert Lee Armfield; great-granddaughter, Finley; brother, Bud (Faye) Lamb.
