Marcelinho Cruz Sr.

Marselino Cruz, Sr., 68, Marion, passed away in his home at 12:38 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018.  He was born on July 24, 1949, in Weslaco, Texas, and was the son of Juan and Maria Dolores (Colorado) Cruz, Sr..  Marselino married Paula Briones, and she preceded him in death.

Marselino was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and jefe de jefes.  He dedicated much of his life to agricultural work and, as a result, became a crew leader for an agriculture company.  He enjoyed reminiscing and watching westerns.

He is survived by his sons, Eduardo (Araceli) Cruz, Marcelino Cruz Jr., Gerardo (Janette) Cruz, Fernando Cruz, and Rolando Cruz, all from Marion; daughter, Josette (Andrés) DeLuna, Marion; grandchildren, Naya and Paola Cruz, Marion, and Andrés and Khloe DeLuna, Marion; and brother, Antonio Cruz, Weslaco, Texas.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Paula; brothers, Juan Cruz Sr., Santos Cruz, José Cruz, Enrique Cruz Sr.; and sisters, Carmen Avendaño and Maria Esquivel.

The family will receive visitors from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Marselino’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1031 W. Kem Rd., Marion.  Father Richard Weisenberger will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
