Lymon Burnell “Pete” Hall

Lymon Burnell “Pete” Hall, 96, Marion, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday morning, June 12, 2022. His love of his Lord showed in everything he did throughout his entire life. He was born in Landess, Indiana, on Tuesday, January 26, 1926, to Milford and Ada (Shoemaker) Hall. He was married to his beloved wife, Dea Ruth Cochran, for 55 years.  

Pete graduated from Van Buren High School in 1944 and received his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Purdue University in 1948. He worked 31 years at RCA until his retirement. From there, he went on to be employed by Diversitech General and General Electric. Pete was a member of First Friends Church and National Society of Professional Engineers. He volunteered over four thousand hours at Marion General Hospital and donated 17 gallons of blood throughout his lifetime. He mentored students with Marion Community Schools, was a CASA volunteer, helped with Second Harvest Food Bank, and was the clerk of Indiana Yearly Meeting of Friends for many years. He worked at Quaker Haven Camp and was Volunteer of the Year with several organizations. His excellent engineering ability took him all over the world to several countries including Taiwan, Germany, Russia, and Puerto Rico. 

Pete and Dea owned a cottage at Quaker Haven Camp on Dewart Lake for 20 years, where he would take anyone on a boat ride, tubing, and water skiing. They hosted many family members and friends there. He loved all of his nieces and nephews.  

Survivors include his son, Dr. Doug Hall of Altamonte Springs, FL; daughters, Joy (Brian) Ritenour of Plymouth, IN, and Kay Brooks of Brookfield, WI; grandsons, Matthew Ritenour, Gabriel Hall, Anderson (Renee) Brooks, Peter Ritenour, and Aaron Brooks; granddaughters, Ariadne Hall Price, Natalie (Timothy) Hall Yeahquo, and Audrey (Ben) Brooks Black; 12 great-grandchildren; and special family members, Cyndi Hall and Jim Brooks. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dea Ruth Hall; parents; brothers, Melvin Hall, Merrill Hall, Wayne Hall, and Lloyd Hall; sisters, Addie Lorene Hall and Betty Bragg; and granddaughter, Caitlin Ritenour. 

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, June 20, 2022, at First Friends Church, 2211 N. Wabash Ave., Marion, IN. 

On Tuesday, June 21, 2022, visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church. Immediately following visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Pete’s life will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Melvin Hall and Pastor Dwight Elliott officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
