Lorena “Frances” (Lucas) McGlothin, 86, Marion, Indiana, went to be with the Lord at 9:07 am on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Marion Health. She was born in Bath County, Kentucky, on Tuesday, January 7, 1936, to the late Ambrose and Nona (Jackson) Lucas. She was married to Burl McGlothin, Jr., on November 27, 1954, and he preceded her in death in 2018.
Frances attended Owingsville High School in Kentucky and completed the secretarial course at Indiana Business College in Marion. She worked briefly at RCA in Marion. She volunteered at Lincoln Elementary School and West 8th Street Wesleyan Church, where she was also a member. Frances enjoyed playing the piano and oil painting. She loved being a homemaker and cooking for family gatherings.
Survivors include her son, Lyndon (Brenda) McGlothin of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Misty McGlothin of Fort Wayne and Christopher (Beth) McGlothin of Angola; great-grandchildren, Cayden James Hoffmaster of Fort Wayne and Taylor Lynn Marie Pepple of Fort Wayne; brothers, Ronald Lucas of Marion, Ralph “Scotty” (Rebecca) Lucas of KY, and Larry (Donna) Lucas of KY; and sisters-in-law, Wanda (Wayne) Wages of KY and Diana Thompson of OH.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby (Gracie) Lucas; sisters, Phyllis Lucas and Barbara Lucas; grandson, Andrew Scott McGlothin; and sisters-in-law, Loretta McGlothin and Donna Lucas.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Frances’ life will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dan Van Cise officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
