Bevelyn “Bev” R. Yonts

Bevelyn “Bev” R. Yonts, 86, Baton Rouge, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 17, 2022. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, May 6, 1935, to Charles and Helen (Grim) Walden. On September 13, 1953, she married her high school sweetheart, James W. Yonts.

Bev attended Marion High School and was a homemaker throughout her life, faithfully serving her husband and family. She was a full-time caretaker for her daughter for 10 years. Her greatest love was her family and church friends. She was happiest when surrounded by them, and they were always welcome in her home. Bev was a lifelong member of Herbst and St. John’s United Methodist churches and was very involved with the church choir and youth group. She enjoyed painting, gardening, cooking for family and friends, and traveling. She had a wonderful sense of humor and would make friends with anyone and even give them hugs.

Survivors include her son, Paul E. (Dawn) Yonts of Plaquemine, LA; daughters, Gloria (David) Holder of Kokomo and Pam (John) Toney of Baton Rouge, LA; grandsons, Michael Holder and Douglas (Christina) Toney; granddaughters, Amber (Chad) Myers and Leah (Colby) Landry; great-grandsons, Hayden Myers and Jacob Myers; great-granddaughters, Aurora Landry, Lily Landry, Zoey Landry, Genevieve Landry, and Baylian Landry; and nephew, Chuck Walden.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James W. Yonts; parents; daughter, Penny Jo Yonts; and brother, Edward Walden.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Bev’s life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Gary Bingham officiating. Entombment will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
