Lonnie R. Williams Sr.

Lonnie R. Williams Sr., age 76, of Huntington, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, July 1, 2018 at his home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12 p.m. Saturday at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Jeremiah Stoffel officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to Parkview Home Health and Hospice, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750.

Lonnie was born on October 4, 1941 in Johnson City, Tennessee, the son of Samuel and Evelyn (Hamilton) Williams. He graduated from high school and served as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps for two tours during the Vietnam War. He married Mary Ebert on August 18, 1973 in North Webster; she preceded him in death on September 24, 2016. Lonnie retired from Dana Corporation in Andrews in 2007 after many years of service. He was also actively involved in his local union, serving as president for several years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Survivors include sons Lonnie (Melissa) Williams Jr. of Fort Wayne, Bill Whisenhunt of Huntington, and Scott (Christina) Whisenhunt of Romulus, Michigan, daughters Lana Cannon of Auburndale, Florida and Sarah Pugh of Huntington, sisters Dorothy Scott of Huntington and Zella Melisio of Iron Mountain, Michigan, grandchildren Mariah Richardson, Lonnie Justin Williams, Mallory Williams, Ethan Williams, Kyle Cannon, Jordyn Cannon, Evan Whisenhunt, Reese Whisenhunt, Paris Pugh, and Mason Helvie, and great granddaughters Nell Mavis Richardson and Mila Rose Torres. His parents, wife, and brothers Jerry Williams and Jack Williams, precede him in death.
