Linda M. Dixon

Summoned home to glory on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 9:50 am at Northwest Manor Health Care Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, Linda M. Dixon answered the call of God and transitioned from this old world to her new home in glory.

A Wonderful Daughter: Linda Martha (Jeffries) Dixon was born on January 7, 1941, to the union of Milton and Margaret Jeffries in Paterson, New Jersey. She was the third child of three children. It was in Marion, Indiana, that she was raised and nurtured by her loving parents. She resided there throughout most of her life, until moving to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she lived with her eldest daughter, Tracy Cannon, who took loving care of her until her death.

Educational Pursuits: Linda’s early education was accomplished through the Marion Community Schools. She later attended Ball State University, Marion College, and Indiana Wesleyan University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

A Servant of God: After being baptized into the body of Christ, Linda became an active member of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, where she participated in the teaching of Sunday School, playing the piano, and serving as an usher.

Service to Her Fellowman: As the daughter of Past Grand Worthy Patron, Brother Milton Jeffries, no one was surprised that Linda became a member of the Eastern Star Amaranth Chapter #35. Committed to this Masonic body, she served as Chaplain and was a member of this service organization for over fifty years.

A Loving Mother: Linda was a homemaker and loving mother of five children. Her greatest joy was to care for and have her grandchildren and great-grandchildren surrounding her with noise and laughter.

Meeting Again: Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Margaret Jeffries; her brothers, Francis and Alton Jeffries; and grandson, Dino Cannon.

Until We Meet Again: Linda’s memory will be cherished by her five children: Milton (Lindsey) Cannon of Anderson, IN; Dino (Daphne) Cannon of Killeen, TX; Tracy Cannon of Indianapolis, IN; Marceia Cannon of Kokomo, IN; and Herrion Douglas Dixon of Indianapolis, IN; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Vicky (Alton) Jeffries; nieces, Renee Jeffries and Dawn (Jesus) Lopez; nephew, Nojir (Kathleen) Jeffries; and a host of relatives, extended family, and friends.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, 3440 S. Washington St., Marion, IN.
