Lillie C. Mitchell

Lillie C. Mitchell, 31, passed away on January 23, 2019 in Marion, Indiana. She was born in Marion to Patrick L. and Carmen M. Mitchell on October 4, 1987.

Lillie graduated from Mississenewa High school in 2006 and attended Indiana Wesleyan University for two years. On January 14, 2014 she married Thomas Brotherton and he survives.

Lillie was loved beyond her imagination. Her parents were so very proud of her for her loyal character and compassion for less fortunate people. She was courageous even in the face of overwhelming odds and once she was dedicated to something she was stunningly persistent. Lillie loved to the point of self sacrifice and held on to hope in the most difficult circumstances. Her smile brightened any room for everyone to see and her intellect and leadership ability allowed her to strategically reach her goals. Lillie will be greatly missed by everyone that loved and cherished her.

She is survived by her daughter, Aurora Brotherton, Marion; parents, Patrick L. and Carmen M. Mitchell, Marion; brother, Patrick L. (Casey) Mitchell, Goose Creek, South Carolina; paternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Orem, Gas City; maternal grandparents, Billy and Carola Arnold, Marion; uncles Mike (Becky) Mitchell, Nokomis, Florida; Steve (Barb) Mitchell, Gas City; aunts Lynn Gosser, Upland; Charlene (Rob) McClain, Upland; Cathy (Frank) Chandler, Wabash; Jan Gerstorff, Gas City; Kamala Dilts, Jonesboro; Shelly (Stan) Tensbusch, Marion; paternal great aunts, Ruth Rhoads, Marion; Catherine (Deveral) Shelton, Marion; Carol (John) Proctor, De Pauw; Susan (Larry) Mitchell, Lake Anna, Virginia; several cousins; numerous paternal cousins; “and the floozy aunts”.

She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Rosaleigh Brotherton; paternal grandfather, Jerry Mitchell.

A celebration of Lillie’s life will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, January 28, 2019 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana, with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. The family will welcome visitors from 2 pm until the service begins on Monday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Patrick L. and Carmen Mitchell to help fund the future education of Lillie’s daughter, Aurora.
