Lawrence A. F. Owen, 68, Marion, passed away at 11:52 pm on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. He was born in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, on Saturday, December 18, 1954, to Victor and Eileen (Timm) Owen. He was married to Amy (Mayer) Owen, who survives.
Lawrence attended Marion High School and worked with the Grant County Highway Department for 42 years, retiring in 2018. He enjoyed fishing and made his own fly tie lures. He also enjoyed bowling, softball, and feeding his backyard birds. Most of all, he was very proud of his great-grandchildren.
Additional survivors include his son, Lawrence Owen, Jr., of Marion; daughter, Beverly Ricks of Marion; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; step-sons, Austin Freimuth and Steve Harper; brother, Ron (Vicki) Owen of Sturgis, SD; sisters, Mary (Rusty) Carroll of Marion, Caroline Baird of Canton, MO, and Chris (Rod) Wilkerson of Gas City; and brother-in-law, Chris Mayer of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Victoria Lawson.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Lawrence’s life will begin at 6:00 pm. Pastor Jeremy Snodgrass will be officiating.
