Hollis J. Baker

Hollis J. Baker, 82, of Marion, passed away at 12:50 am on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Hiltons, Virginia, on Saturday, April 27, 1940, to Robert and Iva (Saylor) Baker. He married Sandra K. Barton on October 28, 1961, and she survives.

Hollis was a 1959 Graduate of Mississinewa High School. He worked as a millwright for several years at Owens Illinois, Dana, and Cabot.

Hollis was a member of the Rodmasters Car Club and enjoyed showing his 1934 Ford Sedan that he owned since he was 17. He also owned a 1932 Hi-Boy Roadster that he had restored and passed on to his grandson. Hollis liked working in his garage and was a skilled craftsman. He could fix and build just about anything that he put his mind to. More than anything though, Hollis loved seeing his family grow and cherished the moments he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a talented, loving and hard-working man who will be missed dearly.

In addition to his loving wife of 62 years, Sandra K. Baker, Hollis is survived by his daughters, Kelly Ann (James) Franklin of Marion and Joey Denise Baker of Marion; grandsons, Eric L. (Jessica Bartrum) Pearson of Marion, Shane (Laura) Nevers of Carmel, Austin (Betsy) Nevers of Muncie, Brady (Hayleigh) Franklin of North Manchester, and Connor Kobets of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Kayla Franklin of Terre Haute; great-granddaughters, Tinsley, Marley, Dylan, India, Perri, Madilyn, Lillie, and Zoe; great-grandsons, Theodore, Roderick, Alijah, Hollis, Grayson, and Oliver; several nieces, nephews and friends; and his dog, Lambeau.

Hollis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert S. and Iva Nell Baker; daughter, Gina Lynn Pearson; brother, Ernie Baker; and his dog, Marty.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral and Cremation Service, Storey Chapel 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate Hollis’ life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park in Marion.
