Laqueita Rose Richerson

Laqueita Rose Richerson, 91, Marion, passed away at 5:25 pm on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at York Place in Marion. She was born in Adamsville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, August 19, 1930, to Charles and Beatrice (Walker) Smith. On June 25, 1949, she married Robert “Jake” Lee Richerson, and he preceded her in death in 2019.

Laqueita graduated from Gas City High School and worked as a bank teller at Twin City State Bank. She was a member of the First Baptist Church-Gas City where she served on the building committee and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a Past Matron of Eastern Star-Jonesboro Chapter and she also loved to ride horses.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Sheri (Jeff) Richerson Rhoades of Marion, Anthony Speakman of Little Rock, AR, Candace (Brian) Johnson of Little Rock, AR, Thomas (Bekah) Timmer of Little Rock, AR; great-granddaughters, Audrey Johnson, Katherine Johnson, Hailey Johnson; nephew and nieces, Wayne (Patty) Smith, Teri Smith, Jill (Josh) Blankinship; great-nephews, Tom Smith, Sammy Smith, Noah Blankinship, Lucas Blankinship; great-nieces, Lizzy Smith, Brandi Smith; and sisters, Patty McGlothlin, Ginnie Smith, and Mary Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Beatrice Smith; husband, Jake Richerson; daughter, Candace Speakman; son, Larry Richerson; brother, William T. Smith; sister, Helen Smith; nephew, Jeff Smith; brother-in-law, Val McGlothlin; and special pet, Rosette.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner-Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Laqueita’s life will begin at 12:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
