Kitty Lee (Latta) Jeffers

Kitty Lee (Latta) Jeffers 65, of Peru, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on January 10, 1953 in Peru, Indiana to Ralph and Violet (Durham) Latta. She graduated from Peru High School in 1971.

Kitty was a devout Christian, and faithfully attended Peru Church of the Brethren until she became ill. Kitty was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished by her family and loved ones. Always putting others before herself, her kind heart and caring soul shined through the people around her. She often spoke about the word of God and her faith encouraged and touched others close to her. She was truly an amazing wife, mom, daughter and sister. She married Frank Jeffers on February 9, 1974. They were married 43 years before Frank’s passing (7 months ago) and those two were the light of each other’s lives.

She enjoyed spending time with family, talking to others about the Lord, sitting by the pool with her sister, family and friends, watching M*A*S*H, and painting her nails. She had a faithful fur baby who meant the world to her, named Sammy.

She is survived by her two daughters Michelle (Jesse) Sampson and Blair Jeffers. Survivors also include one grandson Dalton Sampson, one sister who she was very close to, and was always lending her help, Vicki (Curt) Bankston, one brother William Latta, a special sister-in-law Rose Houk as well as a special niece Valerie Witt, her non-biological “kids” Kim (Aaron) Brown and Richard Bohn, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant child, and two sisters Shirley Day and Patty Blackman.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Peru First Church of the Brethren from 9am – 10am, followed by a memorial service officiated by Phillip Cruea.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family through the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.

Come to Me
God saw you were getting tired, And a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around you, And whispered, “Come to Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you, And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
