Kim Louis Barrus

Kim Louise Barrus, 78, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 4:30 am, Saturday, August 27, 2022, at her home. She was born on June 11, 1944, in Wabash, Indiana, to Willis and Charlotte (Brady) Winer.

Kim was a 1962 graduate of Lagro High School. She married Robert D. Barrus at the Wabash Christian Church on May 15, 1965; he died April 6, 2014. Kim was an x-ray technician for 31 years, retiring from Wabash County Hospital in 1994. She was a member of the Wabash Christian Church, where she sang in the choir and belonged to the women’s group. Kim was a loving and loyal wife to her husband, Robert. She thoroughly enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids sporting and musical events. Kim also enjoyed her luncheons with her friends and cousins.

She is survived by four children, Shelly (Jeff) Knee, Carrie (Tim) Vogel, and Jennifer (J.P.) Denney, all of Wabash, and Joel (Meghan) Barrus of Fort Wayne, Indiana, nine grandchildren, Jaimie Knee of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lindsay Knee, Matthew Knee, Katelin (Jake) Lloyd, Dereck Vogel, Kaden Vogel, Kyleigh Hampton, and Kolton Hampton, all of Wabash, and Brayden Barrus of Fort Wayne, two great-granddaughters, Alora Hampton and Emalynn Lloyd, both of Wabash, and sister, Sharon Linn of Mexico, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Brady Winer.

There will be a celebration of Kim’s life at 10:30 am, Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Brad Wright and Rev. Haley Asberry officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are Animal Shelter of Wabash County or Wabash County Cancer Society.
