June C. Luttrull

June C. Luttrull, 89, Marion, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:30 am on Thursday, December 1, 2022. She was born in Ilsley, Kentucky, on Saturday, April 22, 1933, to Odie and Manora (Powell) Simpson.  On December 8, 1951, in Evansville, Indiana, June, a coal miner’s daughter, married James Luttrull, a preacher’s son. For nearly 71 years, they continued to faithfully and reverently live out their marriage vows, through sickness and health, good times and bad, completely devoted to each other and, still, very much in love.

June graduated from Evansville Bosse High School and was a member of College Wesleyan Church. She was dedicated to her children over the years as a homemaker.  While her husband worked at Marion College, June contributed her gift of hospitality to the campus community and frequently hosted faculty and student groups in their home.  June and James’ home also became a refuge for dozens of family members and foster children. For several years, June owned and operated a successful gift shop, Luttrull’s Home Sweet Home. As she shared her talent and love for making a home beautiful, James was the cheerful right-hand man, thrilled to see his wife achieve a lifelong dream. More than anything, June enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She treasured her extended family and was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt.

Survivors include her loving husband, James D. Luttrull, Sr.; son, James (Debra) Luttrull, Jr., of Marion; daughters, Sandi (Jim) Duecker of Marion, Cheryl (Kenny) Ryan of Marion, and Ruth (Lary) Moyer of Marion; son-in-law, Timothy Harmon of Marion; “daughter-of-her-heart” niece, Connie (Gary) Ott of Marion; grandsons, Andrew (Kate) Luttrull of Marion, Daniel (Danielle) Luttrull of Bismarck, ND, and Peter (Lindsay) Luttrull of Fishers; granddaughters, Heather (Greg) Grindstaff of Monrovia, Misty Moyer of Marion, Amanda (Daniel) Castillo of Marion, and Taylor (Rob Ursua) Harmon of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren, Jakob Fernandes, Austin Castillo, Gabe Moyer, Aidan Castillo, Blake Castillo, Samuel Luttrull, Theodore Luttrull, Arthur Luttrull, Mary Luttrull, Eli Grindstaff, Eleanor Luttrull, Callie Castillo, James Luttrull, Amalie Luttrull, Augustine Luttrull, Louie Luttrull, Esther Luttrull, and one on the way; brothers, James (Linda) Simpson of Olive Branch, MS, and Jack (Rita) Simpson of Mentone; sister, Faye (David) Hollingsworth of Evansville; plus several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
