Joyce M. Walker, age 83, of Andrews, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 7:15 am at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. She was a professional seamstress and worked at the Bobbin and was manager of Ashton’s Apparel & Bridal, retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Paul’s County Line Church, Andrews, Greyhound Companions of Indiana, Twin Bridge square dance club, and past president of Andrews Lions Club.
Joyce was born August 5, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Vinton R. and Agnes C. (Lyons) Springer. On September 4, 1954 she married her first husband Alfred Gerz in Cleveland. On April 23, 1977 she married her second husband Lewis W. “Bud” Walker in Huntington and he survives in Andrews. Also surviving are 3 daughters Susan C (Robert) Worsham of Huntington, Lori A. Sunday of Andrews, and Kimberly (Dave) Shively of Huntington, 2 sons Karl J. (Debra) Gerz of Ossian and Stephen (Cantrenia) Walker of Ligonier, 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and a sister Joan Lipusz of Sarasota, FL. She was preceded in death by a brother Russell Springer.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 11 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Deal-Rice Funeral Home- Huntington Chapel and Tuesday June 12 from 10 – 11 am preceding the 11:00 am funeral at the funeral home. Pastor Conrad Thompson of St. Paul’s County Line Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.
