Josephine Walker

Josephine Walker, 90, Marion, passed away in Marion General Hospital at 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. She was born in Grant County, Indiana, on February 18, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Tony and Gertrude (Holloway) Spence.

Josephine lived most of her life in Grant County and graduated from Fairmount High School. On August 4, 1946, she married the love of her life, Rev. Harold E. Walker. She not only served alongside him in ministry but also worked in private healthcare as a nurse for 30 years. Josephine and Harold were married for almost 64 years until he went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2010. She was a member of Nelson Street Wesleyan and a long-time member of Kingsley WCTU.

Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca Walker, Marion, and Judith (James) McNaughton, Grand Rapids, Michigan; son, Stephen (Rachel) Walker, Gas City; special daughter-in-law, Kris Walker; siblings, Nolan (Norma Jean) Spence, Marion, and Larry (Rose) Spence, Muncie; grandchildren, Amanda King, Michael Walker, Jeremy McNaughton, and John McNaughton; great-grandchildren, Jason, Bryson, and Joshua; and step-grandchildren, Katelyn Borrow and Kaleb McPheron.

Also preceding her in death were her brother, Ralph Spence, and sisters, Maxine King and Catherine Spence.

The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Josephine’s life will take place at Nelson Street Wesleyan Church, 1502 W. Nelson St., Marion, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018, with her son, Rev. Stephen Walker, Rev. Don A. Glenn, and Rev. Steve Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Fairmount.
