Jose V. Rodriguez, 73, Marion, passed away at 11:04 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Marion General Hospital. He was born in Monterrey, Mexico, on July 1, 1945, to the late Felix and Virginia (Valencia) Rodriguez. On June 13, 1964, Jose married his loving wife, Rosa Orozco, and she survives.
Jose was a journeyman/mechanic and previously worked at Pat O’Brien Dental. He had also owned his own pool room and was co-owner of La Norteña. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Cubs, and he enjoyed watching soccer, playing pool, and fishing. Jose also cherished and enjoyed the company of his beloved dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosa; children, Sandra (Christopher) Poling, Marion, Nancy (Steve) Cunningham, Indianapolis, Rachel Rodriguez, Indianapolis, Jose (Joy) Rodriguez Jr., New Haven, Susie Rodriguez, Ohio, and Evita (Ga-Wayne) Clarke, Fortville; grandchildren, Rosemary, Ericka, Vanessa, Ondray, Adriana, Nick, Krystal, Spencer, Delvon, Okoye, Kaitlynn, Keleigh, TyRique, Jose “Joe” III, Jaheem, and Owen; great-grandchildren, Treyvon Jr., Cletus Jr, Cataleya, Cleon, Capone, Rahsynn, Zayon, Josiah, and Jacori; brothers, Roy V. Rodriguez, Michigan, and Felix Rodriguez Jr., Florida; sister, Atishia Beauge, Florida; and step-mother, Judy Rodriguez, Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Alicia Guerrero, Mary Tonia Vasquez, and Lucia Rodriguez; brothers, Aurelio, Ruben, Roger, and Beto Rodriguez; grandmother, Virginia Yañez; and nephews, Randy Guerrero and Nico Vasquez.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. A Rosary service will take place at 7:30 p.m..
Services to celebrate Jose’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Christopher Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
