John Wayne “Pose” Polsley

John Wayne “Pose” Polsley, 79, Marion, passed away at 11:08 am on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Marion Health. He was born in Muncie, Indiana, on Wednesday, July 14, 1943, to W. Wayne and T. Bernice (Wilkins) Polsley.  On October 25, 1985, he married Nancy A. Needler, and she survives.

John graduated from Marion High School’s Class of 1961 and attended IBM School in Minnesota. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he was a Morse Code operator.  Following his military service, he worked at General Motors in Marion for 25 years as a supervisor. He retired in 2005.  John was a member of the Marion Elks Club and American Legion.

John was an avid golfer for many years. He enjoyed playing video games, especially Halo, with his grandson. He was a talented Jaw Harp player and enjoyed playing music. More than anything in the world, John cherished the time that he spent with his family and friends. He was a fun-loving, gregarious, and family-oriented man who will be missed dearly by the many friends he has made over the years.  

Survivors include his wife, Nancy A. Polsley of Marion; daughter, Jenny (Aaron) Lanham of Indianapolis; sons, Jacob (Summer) Polsley of Noblesville and Justin (Rachel) Polsley of Marion; grandchildren, Paul, Madison, Jayden, Dax, Londyn, Raegan, Kennedy, Austin, and Adam; sister, Mary Jane (late Gene) Kellogg of Marion; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Linda Sue Stephens and Phyllis Springer; and his beloved dogs, Sparky, Putter, and Miss Puffers.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate John’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tom Mansbarger officiating.  Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
