John Ray Estelle

John Ray Estelle, 78, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at his Gas City, Indiana residence.

John was born in Anderson, Indiana on July 20, 1939, son of the late Ruben and Grace (Turner) Estelle. He graduated from Anderson High School. John worked for Grice Motors and spent 30 plus years as a self-employed truck driver. John loved cars and was an incredible carburetor builder. He loved drag racing and was known as “Two Feathers” to his friends at the Muncie Drag Strip.   He could ” tinker” the day away in his garage, and was a Jeff Gordon #24 fan. He married the love of his life, JoAnn French on December 30, 1992.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn (French) Estelle, son Bobby Estelle, Van Buren, daughter Debbie (Chris) Brechbiel, Marion, step-daughter, Theresa (Jim) Wells, Gas City, 10 Grandchildren; Cameron Estelle, Brittany Fox, Tyler Johnson, Jacob White, Kristy Fix, Lindsey Alter, Sonya King, Taylor King, Ava King and Tracy King, sister-in-law Joyce (Earl) Fradd, Kitts Hill, Ohio.

John was preceded in death by five siblings; Jim, Jerry, Joan, Carl and Edith Estelle.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where visitation will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 10 AM -12 PM. Funeral service is at 12 PM with Chaplin Don Miller officiating. Burial of John’s cremains will be at Park Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
