John Freed Walters, Sr., 68, Marion, passed away at 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Terre Haute to the late Wiley Wesley and Elizabeth Mary (Vier) Walters, Sr., on June 30, 1950. He married Patsy D. Welch on April 6, 1984, and she preceded him in death on January 24, 2018.
John was a USMC veteran and, following his military service, was a truck driver throughout his life.
He is survived by his children, John Ridge, Terre Haute, Ronald Kent Lott, Marion, John (Stacey) Walters, Jr., Marion, and Dawn (Andrew) Mote, Marion; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; and brother, Wiley Walters, Jr..
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth A. Wilkey, and son, Kevin Leach.
In accordance with John’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Burial will take place at a later date at Marion National Cemetery.
