John Edward Sparks, 56, Matthews, IN. died at 11:50 a.m., Monday, October. 1, 2018 due to unknown complications. John will be sorely missed by many. He was the most loving and caring person. He often went out of his way to help anyone that needed it. He loved the outdoors, serving the community, and cooking delicious meals.
John was born June. 10, 1962, in Marion, Indiana. and was a lifelong area resident. He worked as an EMT with Indiana University Health Ball/Blackford Emergency Services for 10 years and was a volunteer fireman and first responder for several local departments including Matthews Fire Department for over 25 yrs., as well as a part time driver for Eastbrook Community Schools for 28 years.
He is survived by his wife of 24 yrs, Lucretia Ann Sparks, Matthews; father & mother-in-law, James and Mary Wilkey, Marion; two brothers, Everret Eugene Sparks, Fort Wayne and Steve Sparks, Summitville; four children, Adam and wife Fabiola Ivins, Maricopa, Arizona, A. J. Marley, Chicago, Illinois, Stephanie Rude, Rockledge, Florida, and Brandon Rude, Marion; grandchildren, Rovic and Italia Ivins, Maricopa, Arizona and Oliver Copeland, Rockledge, Florida, and his 7 precious fur babies.
He is preceded in death by parents, Delmar and Martha K Sparks, and brother David Sparks.
Services will be held from 2 – 6 p.m., Tuesday, October. 9, at the Cumberland/Matthews Covered Bridge fairgrounds in Matthews, address is 1160 S. 990 E. Fairmount, IN 46928, A first responder procession will deliver John’s remains at 2:30 and then Gary Ashbrook will officiate at 3 p.m., Cremation services provided by Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home.
