Joel J. Pence, Jr., 76, of Marion, passed away at 12:09 pm on Friday, December 1, 2023, in his home. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, December 27, 1946, to Joel and Lillian (Kugler) Pence. He married Cheryl Hines, who survives.
Joel attended Marion High School and then served in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from the military, he was a tool and die maker at Chrysler. Joel was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and belonged to the Marion Congregation. He liked softball, bowling, golf, and fishing, and he especially loved being around his family.
Joel is also survived by his brother, Terry (Cindy) Pence of Wabash; sisters, Marcia (Ron) McQuiston of Kokomo and Deborah (late Ron) Cook; aunt, Waveland Boothe; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Angie Darlene Pence and Erica Kay Carpenter; brother, DeeWayne Pence; and sisters, Emily Shaw, Billie Jo Siefert, and Sarah Sue Kesler.
Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
