Jesse A. Garza, 79, Marion, passed away at 3:36 am on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Miller’s Merry Manor. He was born in Kerrville, Texas, on Friday, June 30, 1944, to Manuel and Juanita (Ayala) Garza.
He worked at GenCorp and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a former member of the Moose of Gas City. Jesse loved fishing and camping with his sons, Chris and Julian. He loved to make everyone laugh and was always there for his family. He enjoyed attending his sons’ events. He loved being outside, working in the yard and going out to eat. He loved visiting Michigan City. Most of all he loved being around family. Jesse was like a father to Dixie’s grandchildren and four children, Tina, Rosie, Nancy, and Johnny as well as several nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his son, Julian (Bonnie) Garza of Sweetser; grandchildren, Lauren (Michael) Wood, Jacob Garza, Mariah (Derek) Misson, Olivia (Kameren) Butler; sisters, Lucy Flores of Abilene of TX and Olga Durieux of Marion; great-grandchildren, Aurora Garza, Easton Korporal, Kori Korporal, Jovi Garza, Lainey Wood, Maverick Misson; and girlfriend, Dixie Benfield.
He was preceded in death by parents, Manuel and Juanita Garza, Sr.; son, Chris Garza; sisters, Mary Flores, Celia Garza, and Estella Clemons; and brothers, Joe Garza and Manuel Garza, Jr.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Jesse’s life will begin at 12:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
