Jerry Wayne Jones

Jerry Wayne Jones, 73, Gas City, passed away at 11:38 a.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born in Marion on July 17, 1945, to Virgil W. and Margaret (Durkes) Jones.

Jerry began working at Hardee’s in Logansport and Elwood. He then worked at and retired from Pierce Governor in Upland. About twenty years ago, his son, Kevin, introduced him to Nancy Nelson. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for family, and he loved watching cartoons and collecting movies. He was a Pacers, Yankees, and Cowboys fan. He enjoyed mowing with his John Deere mower, and chicken was his favorite food.

Survivors include his loving wife of 19 years, Nancy; daughters, Karen (Roger) Gard, Marion, Rhonda Nelson, Montpelier; son, Kevin Wayne (Penny) Nelson, Columbus, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Kameron, Luke, Beccia, Gabriella, Quinton; sister, Kay (Gary) Stoffer, Van Buren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Samuel Gard.

A memorial service will take place at Amvets in Marion at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City.
