Ivy R. Bunker Curtis

Ivy was born in Marion on October 19, 1974 to Barry E. and Teresa A. (Ludlow) Bunker. She passed away in Converse on September 4, 2018. Ivy was a vivacious soul and had a heart full of love for all.

Ivy was a 1993 graduate of Oak Hill High School and a 1999 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University where she accomplished earning 5 degrees. Later she attended Valparaiso University as a law student. Ivy found her career passion in nursing and graduated from the Indiana University School of Nursing in 2013. She worked as a Registered Nurse for Marion General Hospital and most recently Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo. Ivy was very fond of her nursing friends and appreciated their mentorship and leadership in the field.

Ivy’s love of learning was never satisfied. She was a history buff and an avid reader – there was always something to learn. Everyone who knew her admired her ambition. Ivy also loved animals, especially her miniature dachshunds, Gus, Gerty and the late, Trudy. Her cat, Mickey and the late Lucy were very special too. She was passionate about the arts and very much enjoyed musicals. Most of all, Ivy loved being a mommy. She was her beautiful children’s cheerleader and always striving to teach them to be cheerful and show love in everything they do. Ivy was a friend to all and cherished every relationship she had throughout her life.

Ivy is survived by her children, Charles “Charlie” W. Bunker Curtis, Catherine “Kitty” I. Bunker Curtis, Emery “Emmy” B. Bunker Curtis, Lola E. Bunker Curtis, all from Converse; husband, Charles A. Curtis, Sweetser; parents, Barry E. and Teri A. Bunker, Converse; siblings, Lucas E. (Michelle) Bunker, Marion; Daniel J. Bunker, Muncie; Hayley M. Bunker, Carmel; mother and father-in-law, Charles (Carol) Curtis, Sweetser; sisters-in-law, Angela (Pat) Glock, Leesburg; Stephanie (Paul) Fields, Fairmount; nieces and nephews Gigi and Andrew Bunker, Marion; Darrien, Andrew and Devin Slusser.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, whom she adored, John and Lola Bunker and Neomi Ludlow and Fred Ludlow; uncles, Fred Ludlow, Jr. and Tim Ludlow.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11am, Monday, September 10, 2018 in St. Paul Catholic Church, 1031 West Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Rev. Christopher Roberts officiating. The interment will take place immediately following mass in Converse Cemetery, Converse, Indiana. After the burial a celebration of life service will be held in McCarthy Hall on the campus of St. Paul Catholic Church and School from 1:30pm -4:30pm where the Bunker and Curtis families will greet extended family and friends.
