Jerry David West

Jerry David West, 69, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 10:00 am, Sunday, March 18, 2018 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 1, 1948 in Peru, Indiana to Clarence Willard and Esther Mae (Bragg) West.

Jerry was a 1966 graduate of Northfield High School. He married Diana Glenn in Miami, Florida on September 2, 1985. He retired from the Wabash City Police Department, and also owned and operated Jerry West Carpet and Floor Care. He was a member of the F.O.P., the Eagles Lodge, and the Elks Lodge, all of Wabash, and the Lagro American Legion. Jerry enjoyed working, cars, motorcycles, antique tractors, taking care of his yard, and especially enjoyed taking care of his animals.

He is survived by his wife, Diana West of Wabash; two children, Jerry D. “J.D.” West and Ashley (Tristan) Raborn, both of Wabash; two grandchildren, Carson West of Marion, Indiana, and Jorja Raborn of Peru; brothers and sisters, Clarence (Nancy) West of Denver, Indiana, John (Sharon) West of Roann, Indiana, Larry (Sheryl) West of Peru, Susie (Joe) Stout, and Becky (Isaac) Stout, both of Winston Salem, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-8 pm Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are Wabash County Cancer Society or the Animal Shelter of Wabash County.
