Jerry Allen Cannon

Jerry Allen Cannon, 74, Marion, passed away at 5:20 pm on Sunday, February 5, 2023. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, April 19, 1948, to Quentin Cannon, Sr., and Clara (Wilson) Vance.  

Jerry attended Marion Community Schools.  He was quite the athlete and displayed that athleticism as a member of the Marion Giants basketball team.  Jerry’s love of basketball was passed down to his sons, Dion and Kris.  They both played at the high school level.  Jerry continued his love of basketball as an avid spectator.  You could always catch him watching several games on the weekend.  In addition to his love of sports, he loved music.  He played music all day long and loved the smooth voice of Isaac Hayes.  Jerry will be remembered as a lifelong member of the Marion community.

Survivors include his sons, Dion (Christine) Cannon, Sr., and Kristopher Schrader (Tiffany Bell); special niece, Marceia Cannon; sister-in-law, Blanch Cannon; grandchildren, Dayne Cannon, Tellahia Cannon, LaTeasa Cannon (Kofi Barko), Queshon Cannon (Brittany Rhabb-Cannon), Dion Cannon, Jr., Hayley Schrader (Julian Knight), and Brooke (Evan) McConnaughey; great-grandchildren, Koa Hendon, Darnell Knight, Judah Knight, and Cairo Cannon; and a host of extended family and friends.  Also, the family would like to acknowledge special friends, Robin Johnson and Donna Barbour.

He was preceded in death by father, Quentin Cannon, Sr.; beloved mother, Clara Vance; step-father, Bill Vance; brothers, Marcus Cannon, Quentin Cannon, Jr., Raymond Cannon, Ronald Cannon, and Jesse Cannon; and sister, Janice Jeffries.

There will be no public visitation or funeral service for Jerry.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral and Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
