James V. “Jim” Ambriole

James V. “Jim” Ambriole, age 94, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 10:15 pm at The Heritage of Huntington.  He served in the US Navy in WWII aboard the aircraft carrier USS Barnes, was a farmer and worked at Navistar, retiring in 1976.  He was a member of Emmanuel Community Church and Roanoke American Legion Post #160.

Jim was born October 23, 1923, in Ravenna, Ohio, the son of Victor and Odessa (Courtney) Ambriole.  On July 6, 1947 he married his beloved wife of 70 years Eileen L. Paul in Roanoke and she survives in Huntington.  Also surviving are 2 daughters Anne Butcher of Fort Wayne and Pat (Dwight) Stetzel of Laud, 3 sons Paul (Loretta) Ambriole of Huntington, Gary (LuAnn) Ambriole of Roanoke and Steven (Pamela) Ambriole of Cocoa, FL, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers William & Robert Ambriole.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 14 from 2:30 to 5:00 pm preceding the 5:00 pm funeral service at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes.  Pastors Dennis Miller and Steve Fish will officiate.  Inurnment will follow at a later date in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
